Beauty: Jumping On The Ordinary Bandwagon

If you haven't tried The Ordinary, are you even a beauty blogger though?

No, but seriously, in case you've been living under a rock for the last few months or so, The Ordinary is a range of skincare and makeup from Deciem (the abnormal beauty company) that supposedly delivers luxury quality products with a super affordable price tag.

I've been seeing it absolutely everywhere on Instagram and on pretty much every blog post going, so obviously I was intrigued. You can order it all online on ASOS and from Deciem but since I went to London recently for my birthdaaaaaay, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to pop into the Deciem Spitalfields shop and have a look in person.

The first thing to note...IT'S SO CHEAP.

Like, seriously if you're a student on a budget but you're a bit of a beauty junkie like myself then this is definitely the brand for you. As you can see above, I bought 3 products and it all came to £18.

If you were in Space NK, something similar would probably set you back a cool £100 at least, so to pick up 3 products for less than half the price of a Topshop pair of jeans was amazing. I obviously couldn't wait to put it all the test and I was so hopeful that it the products inside would equally match the fab price.

Here's the lowdown...

100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil - £9.00 / Obviously the first thing that drew me in was the word organic. I'm obviously on the bandwagon of using products that are natural and good for the skin so this was a good way of reeling me in. I've been using rose hip oils as part of my evening skincare routine for some time now so I thought I would give this offering a go. I'm definitely impressed! It's so easy to apply with the pippet applicator and it sinks into the skin so well and it feels LOVELY. It smells amazing too (I've tried a few before that are a bit too floral) and I've noticed such a difference to the texture of my skin every morning and I'm definitely putting it down to this. For only 9 quid, it's definitely worth picking up to see how you feel about it, even if you only try it once and it's not for you! It suitable for all skin types though despite it being an oil so it's a fab all-rounder.

Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG - £5.80 / I'm all for using any products that contain caffeine and if it's for the eyes I'm allllll over that cos this gals got bags big enough for her Tesco weekly shop. All jokes aside, this one is amazing after a late or sleepless night and I've found it's even more refreshing to pop it in the fridge the night before for a cooling treatment in the morning. You can use it morning or night (or both!) and it helps to reduce puffiness and dark circles and I've definitely seen a subtle improvement. If nothing else though, it just helps me feel more awake in a morning!

High-Adherence Silicone Primer - £3.90 / Okay, aside from this being FOUR BLOODY POUNDS, it's actually a really good primer! I work long (and sometimes sweaty) shifts at work so anything I can do to prolong the life of my makeup I am all over. Firstly, I love the way this one feels on the skin. I must admit, I wasn't really sure about it since the word silicone is involved, but it feels amazing to apply and it doesn't leave the skin feeling tacky and sticky for ages afterwards so you can pretty much apply makeup onto your face straight away. It makes my pores practically disappear which is totally okay with me and basically provides the perfect base for applying your makeup and it definitely helps it to stick around allllll day.

Another plus point to the range is the fact it's all super Instagram-able. I love that while the products are cheap as chips, they haven't scrimped on the packaging and it all looks about 5x more expensive than it actually is! They're also all vegan and cruelty-free, which is fantastic and it's definitely an ethos I am trying to be more mindful about when buying products in the future!

Overall I am super impressed with range - I mean, I was always gonna be, let's be honest - and I really can't wait to try out more. I'd to love to sample some more Deciem brands too, so please let me know in the comments what your fave Ordinary bits and bobs are and what other Deciem babes you're loving too!

Always, Alice x
