Beauty: The December Birchbox + First Impressions

Another month, another Birchbox parcel made it's way to my doorstep. I used to post about these every single month without fail, but recently I've kind of fallen out of love with Birchbox and I hate to say it but the boxes haven't been the best. Until the December one turned up and it was probably the best one I've ever received!

Firstly, the packaging is bloody gorgeous! It came wrapped in a gorgeous candy striped box which I uploaded a cheeky snap of on my Instagram and the actual Birchbox itself is equally as pretty - as are the contents inside!
As with every month, you get a full size product inside, and this month it was the Ciaté London Fierce Flicks liquid eyeliner pen (£15.00) which I am SO excited about! I'm obsessed with the Soap & Glory Supercat eyeliner but since my local Boots doesn't stock the S&G makeup anymore and mines nearly run out (waaaaaa!) then this has come at a perfect time! I wasted no time in trying this out and I'm seriously impressed and maybe even love it more than my beloved Supercat?! It's a thin enough nib that you can be really precise when doing a cat eye flick and the colour pay off is fab and it lasts all night. Such a winner - well done Birchbox!

Another little gem I was happy to see in my box was a mini but still ample size of the Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara (£23 for full size). I've never actually tried anything from Bobbi Brown before (I know right...) so I'm excited to give this a proper go and see what I think! From first look though, I like that the wand has a proper bristle brush and I think I'm going to get on well with it as these tend to work better for me than the thin plastic brushes in most mascaras these days.

A common brand I've found in multiple Birchboxes is Percy & Reed haircare, which I have grown to love, and this month we have the Perfectly Perfecting Wonder Balm (£18 for full size). I used to hate getting haircare products in boxes as I'd never use them, but since recently my hair has become a horrible mess in need of a good hair cut, I've been using all I can to look after it in the meantime and Percy Reed has become one of my favourite brands to go to. I've used a balm of theirs before I think and it made a real difference to my rats tails so I'm eager see what this badboy can do!

Is a Birchbox even a thing without a Benefit product? In my box this month, there's a mini version of the Benefit Porefessional: Matte Rescue (£21.50 for full size) and it's actually quite a generous size! Makeup seems to just melt off my skin at the minute despite using a fancy AF Clinique foundation so I'm hoping this will sort my skin out and help my makeup stay in place - especially when I'm running round like a mad woman at work over Christmas!

Lastly is the the Dr. Brandt PoreDermabrasion (£43 for full size), which sounds like a product just made for me, and if the Benefit Porefessional wasn't enough then I think this is just the jobby I need! Given it's £43 for a full size tube, we've been treated to quite a hefty sample size considering it's only to be used once a week or so, and I can't wait to give it a go! It's 'brimming with salicylic acid' and sounds like an absolute dreamboat exfoliator that I'm hoping will sort out my skin once and for all this December!

Overall, I'm beyond impressed with the December Birchbox and I can't wait to give all the products a go! The quality and thought behind the products is second to none this month and I really hope that continues into 2017 cos I'm really excited for my next box to arrive come January!
