#LetsGlow Blogger Event

A few weeks ago, an email popped into my inbox inviting me along to a secret blogger event by the gorgeous gals at Sense PR. Finally an event I could attend! Living nowhere near London generally means that blogging events are few and far between so when I found out that this one was in Leeds just an hours drive away (and also one of my favourite places ever) how could I refuse?!

A week or so before the event, we received our official invitation and learned a little more about what we would be doing...glow in the dark bingo. My previous experiences with bingo involved my mum and a fusty bingo hall full to the brim with little old ladies, but I put all reservations aside and was looking forward to it!
I arrived at the venue (the very cool and quirky Belgrave Music Hall in Leeds City Centre), and was greeted by one of the lovely Sense PR girls who rocked some seriously cool UV face paint! The whole first floor was UV crazy, with glow in the dark confetti all over the floor, home-made glow in the dark lamps and of course a glow in the dark bingo set!
Of course, I was mega nervous as I didn't know anyone but the lovely India and Jess soon introduced me to some of the Leeds bloggers and with gin sling in hand I felt a whole lot better!

Before the festivities started, there was chance for us all to mingle and introduce ourselves, get our face painted, get our nails kitted out with special UV nail polish and indulge in some free drinks - they'd thought of everything!
There was also time to eye up the table of prizes and drool over the gorgeous Olivia Burton watch and Pandora bracelet up for grabs.

We had 3 games of bingo (on glow in the dark bingo sheets of course!), with little breaks in between to top up our drinks and help ourselves to the mouth-watering spread of pizza and cupcakes. Literally living the dream.
And would you believe it, I won a bloody prize! I was the lucky caller of a full house and I don't think I've ever reacted to anything so fast in my life! As well as a lovely little goody bag complete with chocolate and lipstick - THEY KNEW ME WELL - I also got to walk away with my fab prize, the Pandora bracelet!
Throughout the night there was also an Instagram competition where the best photographer would walk away with Fujifilm Instax Mini camera and although I wasn't lucky enough to win that, Ellie Kate who did win was more than deserving!

All in all, it was an amazing night and I couldn't believe how good it all looked and how well we were treated! It was lovely to get to meet some of the Leeds bloggers and hopefully I'll be able to catch up with them soon!
You can read the official write-up of the event over on the Ladbrokes page, and a massive thankyou to them and Sense PR for inviting me!

A Q&A A Day...

Shamelessly enabled by none other than Zoella, I couldn't help myself but to pick up the Q&A A Day 5-Year Journal! Back in February, I wrote a little post on the 'One Line A Day' Journal (I just like journals, kay?!) in which you write a brief summary of your day every day for 5 years. It's a lovely little way to look back on your life over the years and it was a nice idea but well, lets be honest, it became a chore...

THEN I saw the Q&A A Day journal (£10.49 from Amazon), and I needed it in my life.

Who doesn't love answering questions about themselves on a daily basis? Sounds arrogant, but it's true, right?! But these are questions with a difference - some deep and meaningful like 'What is your biggest dream?' and some just trivial like 'What was the last fruit you ate?'!
I've always been one for keeping a diary and holding on to keepsakes for FAR too long, so this is right up my street. In the same format as the 'One Line A Day' journal, this lets you write an entry for every question over the course of 5 years, and I'm looking forward to reading my entries back in the years to come and seeing what's changed! I think it'll be a lovely little memory book to let my other half read one day too...although maybe not just yet!

How do you keep your memories?

The Sunday Post: Things That Made Me Happy This Week #18

What made me happy this week...

- Me and the other half started the week off with a date night! We made our usual trip to Pizza Express and ate copious amounts of dough balls and then went to the cinema to see the new Paper Towns film! Cara Delevingne, you babe.

- I've FINALLY cracked this healthy eating thing (and lost half a stone, woo!) and I owe most of it to becoming vegetarian! Don't get me wrong, I still need me some chocolate binges in my life but for the most part I've been filling myself with fruit and veg and all things good and wholesome.

- Thursday marked the official one year countdown until we get married!!! Cue the next 12 months of stress, arguments and never-ending bunting...

- I went to Leeds for the #LetsGlow blogger event and met some awesome people and had a fab night! Even walked away with a gorgeous Pandora bracelet which I won....but more details on all that coming soon!

- And whilst in Leeds, of course some SERIOUS shopping went down and I got a bit spendy in Harvey Nics and Topshop! Me and the boy also had an amazing lunch at Byron Hamburgers and had the Oreo milkshake that dreams are made of...

What made you happy this week?

GOSH has always been one of those make-up brands that I overlook when I'm doing a make-up splurge but as soon as I saw the new Velvet Touch Matt lipstick collection circling around Twitter and Instagram, I knew I had to make those babies mine.

Making their way into my ever-expanding lipstick collection (39 and counting, don't judge y'all), are 2 shades from the Matt collection - '002 Rose', a gorgeous pinky nude and '004 Coral', a bright orangey red - and I'm just going to put it out there that the whole collection is AMAZE.
I'm forever on the hunt for the perfect matte high-street lipstick and haven't really had much luck so far until now. The formula of these is just fab and rivals those of some of the more high-end matte lipsticks I own - which is great seeing as these are only £6.99 each!
002 Rose is the shade I have been loving most out of the two and in the fortnight that I have been trying these out, it has definitely been well-loved! It is a gorgeously creamy pinky-nude shade (top description there...) and it has quickly become my go-to everyday colour. I think it's one of those colours that would look good on any skin tone and is real your-lips-but-better shade! I haven't had a chance to properly try out the Coral shade as of yet but on first swatch I fell in love and it compliments my pale skin perfectly! It's not secret that I'm a red lipstick hoarder and while this one is still technically red, it's a little different and much more of an everyday wearable colour!
The lasting power of these is fantastic too as I found out on a 9-hour shift recently when I only had to touch up once - the perfect accessory for a gal with busy life syndrome! Since they are a matte formula and under a tenner I thought they would be quite drying on the lips to compensate but they are so creamy and comfortable to wear so big winners all round!

Of course I couldn't just walk away from my little haul with only 2 things in my basket so I thought I'd give one of their Velvet Touch lip liners a try too. I was quickly drawn to the MAC-esque packaging and I popped 'Antique Rose' into my basket in the hope it would be a more affordable dupe for the Soar/Whirl phenomenon - and I was right! 'Antique Rose' is a lovely nude-pink colour that is perfect for a 90's lip and again, the formula of these is a steal too at only £4.99!

I think I've found my new favourite high-street brand and I can't wait to add more of their products to my collection! GOSH products are currently on 3for2 at the minute in Superdrug stores and online so another haul might be imminent...

What are your favourite GOSH products? Do you have any other favourite high-street brands?

A Little Life Update...

So you might have noticed that I've been a little MIA on the blogging front this last month, but I'm baaaaaack!

It's been a busy month for me and I just haven't had any real time to sit down in front of my laptop and just TYPE. It's also been a little month of change. I gained a small promotion at work, re-designed my blog, I've been having a real go at getting rid of my clutter and the biggest change of all...I became a vegetarian!
At 23, I know it's an odd time to suddenly give up the bacon but I've been absolutely loving my meat-free lifestyle and the health benefits that come with it. Everyone I tell thinks I'm some sort of weirdo but after watching a very disturbing documentary on the meat industry, the thought of tucking
into a beef burger genuinely terrifies me!

I've really missed our little community whilst I've been away though, and I vow not to neglect my little corner of the internet again! I've got so many exciting things planned for the next few weeks (did someone say GIVEAWAY?!) and I can't wait to share them all with you!
I'll be bringing you a new post every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 6pm but in the meantime you can always follow me on Twitter or Instagram!
