The Sunday Post: Things That Made Me Happy This Week

What made me happy this week...

- It was my BIRTHDAY! I turned the ripe old age of 23 and I've been enjoying a lovely birthday week with my nearest and dearest. I started the week with my mum and best friend (and baby!) and did a little bit of shopping, coffee drinking and cake consuming...

- I also went out for some food with some of  my closest friends and was absolutely spoilt with cake and flowers and perfume! There also may have been a cheeky night out last night, involving waaaaaay too much vodka and wine...don't judge.

- As well as celebrating my birthday, me and my other half also celebrated a year of being engaged and also 3 years of being a couple! Can't believe we've made it to 3 years without killing each other but I wouldn't change it for the world (cringe alert, sorry not sorry)

- To top it all off, my other half treated me to the most AMAAAZING bouquet of pink peonies and we went for some yummy Japanese food (see my post here!) which was a lovely anniversary present and it was nice to spend some quality time together.

Date Night: Anniversary Style!

It's been a pretty hectic and exciting week so far for little old me! Wednesday was my 23rd birthday and also a whole year of engagement to my other half and yesterday was an exciting day too - our anniversary!
It feels like only 5 minutes ago since we got together, but 3 long years have passed since we decided to make it official and I can honestly say they've been the best 3 years of my life so far (cringe, I know, soz gals!)

So to mark the special occasion and to prolong my birthday shenanigans, the two of us decided to celebrate with a gorgeous meal at Ogino, the Japanese restaurant in our town, which we've been dying to try out for ages!
As a massive Wagamamas fan, I was keen to try the cuisine on a finer level and I was impressed straight away at the menu and we wasted no time in ordering the massive sharer platter to start with. I could not even try and tell you what any of the dishes were called but there was a bit of sushi, salmon and chicken on there and every bit was a good as the last!

For the main course, I opted for a dish containing crispy scallops balls, which were AMAZING - even if they did look a little rude (I'll let you use your imaginations on that one...)
Nathan went for duck which I had a little nibble on and it was equally as yummy!
Naturally I couldn't turn down the dessert menu and it took me a while to decide as the options all sounded delicious, but I finally settled on a green tea and irish coffee tiramisu and there were no regrets to be had...except maybe passing up the cocktail menu for a glass of white wine instead! I've definitely found my new favourite place to eat and it won't be the last time I visit.

All in all, it was a lovely night with lovely company and I couldn't ask for a better way to finish my birthday celebrations and to mark our 3rd year together...here's to hopefully another 3 and more!

Turning 23...

(Not quite sure why I was wearing sunglasses inside...DIVA!)

Today I am another year older, and while I'm a little upset that a certain Tay-Swizzle song no longer
applies to me, for the most part I am quite content with reaching the grand old age of 23.

I can't believe how quickly this last year has gone and it only seems like yesterday it was my 22nd birthday, which ended up being the best day of my life so far (spoiler, it featured a sparkly ring!)
I'm super excited for everything to come in my 23rd year including planning our wedding, finally making some sort of life plans and hopefully passing my driving test - it's about time!
I also want to devote more time to my little space of internet and hopefully watch Always, Alice grow even further than it has already!

I've been utterly spoilt by my loved ones these last couple of days and while it saddens me to think that my 18th birthday was a whole 5 years ago (!), I'm feeling like I've finally reached adulthood and I'm excited for everything that comes with that!

I hope you're all having a lovely day,

Always, Alice x
