Forget your deep red and your dark berry tones, it's all about blue nails in every shade right now. It's a colour I reach for the most when painting my nails - all year round actually, but it works a treat at this time of year for adding a pop of colour to those dreary days.
My collection of blue nail polishes is extensive and my most loved colour to wear on my nails, and here are my top picks for the best of the winter blues...
l-r: Rimmel 60 Seconds in 'Aye Aye Sailor'
Kiko Nail Lacquer in 'Ultramarine Blue'
Barry M Gelly in 'Damson'
Barry M Gelly in 'Blueberry'
Barry M Gelly in 'Elderberry'
Barry M Nail Paint in 'Blue Moon'
There's a little something here for every occasion, whether you want to vamp it up for a night out and go with Rimmel's dark navy in 'Aye Aye Sailor', which is the perfect alternative to a dark berry shade. For more of a party colour, maybe the Kiko one in 'Ultramarine Blue' would be a good fit as it has a hint of sparkle and is the prettiest sapphire blue shade that looks so magical!
Barry M seem to have one of the best collections of beautiful blue nail paints (Essie and Topshop, you're both winners too!) and I am in love with each of their Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints pictured above! 'Damson' is a vibrant electric blue that would look fantastic paired with an all-black outfit, whilst 'Blueberry' is a little bit softer and more of a turquoise-green toned shade - perfect for making the transition into early spring and the arrival of the pastels!
And last but by no means least are my favourites of them all, from Barry M's original Nail Paint line, is the shade 'Blue Moon'. This one works well for day and night and can be worn all year round without fail. In certain lights, it has a light pink shimmer to it which is so pretty and something I cannot get enough of! Back to the Gelly Hi-Shine range is the gorgeous 'Elderberry' which is a soft grey-toned blue, which looks super sophisticated and a perfect alternative to a neutral nude nail.
What are your favourite nail shades for this time of year? Let me know in the comments!
Always, Alice x

Same, they're such great quality aren't they! I've got a growing collection of greys and taupes too haha x
DeleteBlue Moon was one of the first ever BarryM varnishes in my collection, and it's definitely a shade I reach for if I'm having a little bit of a down day. Haven't tried any of the gelly nail polishes yet (brief...-ish stress nail-biting lapse) but the shades here look so lovely.
