January Favourites

I'm a little late to the party (again!) but here is a run down of my January Favourites! January was a great month for trying out lots of new products and I felt like I really made big leaps where my blog is concerned. I have started eating better, started exercising more and I've finally developed some sort of a skincare routine...WOOP WOOP!

I've been loving a lot over the dreary month of January to compensate for the loss of festive spirit in the air, and first up is my recent addiction to Netflix - and more importantly, Pretty Little Liars. I've watched the show since it first started and after my other half signed up to Netflix at the beginning of the month, I was delighted to see that almost every episode of PLL was on there! Queue countless hours of laying like a potato in bed with my ipad or laptop in front of me and I'm already halfway through season 2...

A couple of skincare bits I've been loving have been from none other than Lush. After the little fire situation that went on at work, it was all hands on deck washing pots and pans and walls and ceilings for hours on end so my hands really took a beating. Enter 'Helping Hands' hand cream! I won't go into too much detail cos I'm posting a review of this little baby later in the week but lemme tell yaaaa, it's a good'un! I also picked up the 'Rub Rub Rub' shower scrub after hearing it raved about here, there and everywhere! I am addicted to the fresh minty smell and it has really made a difference to my general skincare routine. An essential for this horrible weather we've been having!

I've been loving the Benefit 'It's Potent' Eye Cream recently too. I was given it as part of a set for Christmas and didn't think it would actually do a whole lot but boy was I wrong! Again, I'm gonna do a little round-up of this in a later post but it's got the thumbs up from me.

On to make-up loves now, and my makeup routine has been transformed by the Seventeen Define & Conquer Contour Kit! I was dubious as to whether or not contouring was a good idea as it can look horrible when done wrong but I saw this on offer in my local Boots for just over a fiver and thought I'd give it a go! The colours are subtle but work magic and transform the face, and it doesn't look fake at all! I'd definitely recommend this one if you're after something drugstore. To use alongside that, I also picked up the Sleek 'Rose Gold' blush, which I've been after for some time! It's said to be a dupe for the famous NARS Orgasm blush, which I was happy about and I am definitely impressed with it so far! It stays on all day and is the perfect colour for my skin tone.

I've also been using my L'Oreal True Match Foundation in the shade N1 Nude Ivory, which fits my skintone perfectly. It is quite a light to medium coverage but it is so sleek and easy to apply and I find the staying power of this is better than any of the more luxurious foundations I own. You might have seen the Bourjois Rouge Velvet in Grand Cru in a little post I did here, but I've been loving it all throughout January. It's the perfect product to dress my outfit up a little and the longevity of it is incredible!

I also finally picked up the Soap & Glory Archery Brow Tint & Shaping Pencil, which has made filling in my eyebrows easier than ever before! I use the little waxy pencil end to fill in my brows slightly and give them more shape and colour and then I can draw in little tiny hairs in any sparse areas with the brow tint at the other end. Absolute bargain as well and a great alternative to the more expensive Anastasia Brow Wiz.

And last but certainly not least, the last thing I have been loving this month is the gorgeous book by Miss Tanya Burr...Love, Tanya. My lovely other half surprised me with this on release day and I started reading it straight away! It's probably aimed at a younger audience than myself but it's packed with a lovely story and some great tips and tricks that I'm sure will help me out in every area of my life.

What were you loving in January? Any products to recommend would be much appreciated! Let me know in the comments below and don't forget to follow me on Bloglovin if you'd like to stay up to date with my posts...

Always, Alice x

  1. I've never heard of Sleek makeup, but that blush looks SO pretty. I have never purchased the NARS orgasm blush, even though it's supposed to be one of the best- I can never justify paying that much for a blush ya know? This one looks so nice and affordable!
