1884.

So if you read last night's blog post, I promised you a lovely little review of my recent visit to the fantastic 1884! It's based in Hull, and is a gorgeous fine dining restaurant that me and the other half have been dying to try out for some time. We're never that keen on Valentines Day, so thought we'd treat ourselves the week after and made a reservation for last Thursday!

Sadly I don't have any outfit posts as (SHOCK, HORROR!) I was an outfit repeater but you can see me in exactly the same outfit in my Pipe & Glass restaurant post here!

We were greeted by a lovely girl at the front desk who seated us at the bar and we ordered ourselves some drinks. I wasn't able to get many photos of the inside as I was getting some funny looks flashing my iPhone around the room, but lemme tell ya...it was swanky! We ordered our food whilst we waited at the bar, to ensure we were served quicker at our table, and after about 10 minutes we were escorted to a lovely little table in the center of the restaurant and our food came not long after!
I'm all for trying new and exciting things so for starters I went for scrambled duck egg (on toast!) with mushrooms and it was divine! My favourite thing about posh restaurants is the way they present the food and this was no exception...
For my main course, I decided to try the Roe Deer, which I was about dubious about at first, cos yano Bambi and all that but it was so yummy! It was served with kale and mushrooms and I've been having dreams about it since cos it was just that tasty!
I couldn't turn my pud or a coffee afterwards so I opted for the dark chocolate fondant that came with vanilla ice cream and a peanut butter and jelly macaroon! It was delish, but I couldn't help myself and had to wash it down with a fancy latte afterwards.

All in all it was a fantastic night out and I'd recommend 1884 to the high hills for anyone who is in the area and is after a special meal out with their loved ones! Obviously it was a bit pricey, but you're paying for quality and a real experience and it's somewhere I'd definitely go back to visit in a heartbeat.

I'll leave you with some of the photos I took of my food and the surroundings, but apologies in advance if they make your stomach growl...

  1. The restaurant and food look incredible! It's definitely worth paying more when you're paying for such quality and the overall experience :) My favourite place to eat at the moment is when I stay at my boyfriend's in Ipswich and we go to place called Aurora, on the docks - it's beautiful!
