The Sunday Post: Things That Made Me Happy This Week

My favourite time of the week has returned, and I'm currently writing this post whilst having a relaxed Sunday evening filled with copious amounts of chocolate and pampering after a tiring weekend at work!
I've decided I need to add a bit more continuity to my blog, so every Sunday evening (she says with optomism...) I'm bringing to you a run-through of everything that has made me happy in the week leading up to! Even if you've had a rubbish week that you can't wait to be over with and you're knackered after a 12 hour shift, it's nice to look back on the small things that put a smile on your face and be a bit grateful for the good things in life.

What made me happy this week...

- Chocolate. And lots of it! I've been moaning constantly to anyone that will listen about the fact that I need to tone up and stop eating such crap food but this week I thought SOD IT. It's nearly christmas and if I want to eat an entire bag of Cadbury's Snow Bites then I bloody well will do! Being healthy is what January is for...

- Christmas decorations! On my walk home from work earlier, everything looked so pretty with all the lights adoring the houses! Where I live is pretty anyway but all the houses looked so magical!

- Good friends. I'm lucky enough that I get to work with such a fab group of people and last night was spent with a couple of them (and a few cheeky beverages) and it was just what I needed!

- I'm going to Leeds tomorrow! If you've kept up with my blog you'll know I only went this time last month but I'm going back and I've been so excited for it all week! Need to get my behind into gear and do some Christmas shopping though and not just spend all of my money in Space NK like last time!

- My other half. So incredibly cringey I know, and we've had our ups and downs this week but I bloody love that guy so much and I am enjoying lots of winter cuddles and nights in with him lately!

- The Imitation Game. I went to see this at the cinema on Monday and it was AMAAAAZING. All go see it, seriously...Benedict Cumberbatch, I salute you, you incredible actor!

What has made you happy this week? What do you think to this little post idea? Let me know in the comments below and follow me on Bloglovin...I only need 1 more follower to 200 and then it's the launch of my little giveaway to say thankyou to all you lovely lot!

The Christmas Tag

Image via Tumblr

I've seen this tag floating around the bloggersphere for sometime now so I thought I'd join in too! I love reading what everyone else's favourites are so let me know in the comments if you've done this tag too!

What's your favourite holiday movie?
It's A Wonderful Life! Hands down the best Christmas film ever but it's so underrated because it's in black and white! It's not Christmas without watching this at least twice, and I challenge anyone to not cry at the ending...

What are your favourite Christmas colours?
I love your traditional red and green but in the future when I'm decorating my own house I'd make it look all Scandinavian with their prints and lots of rustic wood and white!

Do you like to stay in your PJs or dress up for Christmas?
A bit half and half? When I was younger I used to put on a really pretty outfit and not bother with anything else. I looked like I'd been dragged through a bush but at least my dress was nice! Now, I like being cosy in the morning in new PJs and then I'll put on something a little more festive and sparkly for dinner.

Do you open your presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
Christmas morning! I used to get new PJs to wear Christmas night but after years of trying to con my mum into letting us open a present or two on Christmas Eve (she wasn't having any of it!), it's always been first thing Christmas morning!

Have you ever built a gingerbread house?
No, and I have no idea why because gingerbread is my favourite Christmassy thing ever! I think this year I'll be baking lots of festive treats so will have to sneak some gingerbread in there too!

What do you like to do on your Christmas break?
I don't really have a Christmas break this year! I'm working throughout it, and even on Christmas Day! But I love taking it easy and spending lots of days indoors baking and making pretty things or at cute little coffee shops with my favourite people!

Any Christmas wishes?
Not really! Just to have a happy Christmas with my loved ones and that I hope they like their gifts!

Favourite Christmas smell?
Gingerbread without a doubt. I also love Salted Caramel candles. The smell of tinsel is just so Christmassy to me but it's so tacky ha!

Favourite Christmas meal or treat?
I love Christmas coffees and hot chocolates and gingerbread! Christmas dinner is alright too, it's one of the only times I actually like a roast dinner (I'm a weird one, I know) so I'm looking forward to making my own this year!

I tag everyone to do this that wants to and I look forward to reading your answers! Follow me on Bloglovin if you want to keep up with my blog easily and I'll be back tomorrow!

November Favourites

So I know I'm about 4 days late but here are my November favourites!
This is the first time I've done a monthly favourites post, and it was incredibly hard trying to whittle down my top picks so that this didn't turn into a massive ramble but here we go...

Twinings Green Tea

Anyone who knows me knows I am obsessed with green tea! I prefer it to ordinary tea and even my beloved coffee doesn't compete with these particular badboys! I've been loving the Gingerbread flavour for the majority of the year to be quite honest, it smells and tastes beyond AMAAAZING and on top of that it's super healthy too! I recently picked up the Salted Caramel flavour after resisting it for some time and I was not disappointed! They're super tasty and perfect for those who want something festive but don't want to overindulge this christmas!

Lush 'New' Shampoo Bar and The Body Shop Coconut Hand Cream

These two little miracles have saved me this last month! After yet another trip into my local Lush I ended up coming away with one of the shampoo bars with the help of a very good salesman. It smells so cinnamon-y which is one of my favourite scents ever and it promised to make my hair super shiny and promote hair growth...but at around the £5 mark was it worth it? YES. In every way YES. My hair as never felt so good, and it's in the best condition it's ever been in! Sorry for the awful photo (it was once round), but it's been well-loved! It does get a bit messy but a handy tin like this one is great, and it lasts for ages!
As for The Body Shop hand cream, well what can I say other than everyone should buy one! I got it in little set with a matching lip balm for £7 and they are both incredible. I mostly use it over night and at work to soften up my pint-puller hands and it does the job almost instantly. Definitely a must-have as the cold winter months settle in.

Garnier Fresh Refining Toner

I only bought this in the last week of November and it easily made it's way into my favourites. I use it alongside the Micellar Water, and those as a combo work wonders! After removing my makeup, I put some of this on a cotton pad and sweep over my face and I can feel it working instantly! It smells strangely pleasant and it has made my face less spotty and much brighter and I love it! A bargain from Savers too, only £1.99!

NARS Sheer Glow and Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

Two products on different ends of the spectrum but I love them both! I was slow to the Sheer Glow bandwagon and after buying and trying I wasn't immediately impressed but it has definitely grown on me, especially combined with the Collection concealer! They compliment each other perfectly and my skin looks so flawless and healthy! My only criticism of Sheer Glow is that it doesnt come with a pump to get the product out and you have to just tip it straight out of the bottle but apart from that jobs a good un'!

Sleek Brow Kit

I wasn't sure about this when I purchased it either, but I cannot live without it now! My hair is a weird combination of brown and auburn and this kit magically finds an inbetween shade that matches my eyebrows to my hair perfectly, despite me thinking the palette was a bit light to start with. It comes with a wax and then a powder and little tweezers and brushes to perfect your look, but I love using mine with the Real Techniques Eyeliner Brush instead.

Lush Snow Fairy  and Maybelline Color Tattoo 'On and On Bronze'

How could I do a favourites post without Snow Fairy? I've mentioned it in several posts already but I am still loving it and despite buying it at the start of November, I don't even think I'm 1/5 of the way through the medium sized bottle - and I use it everyday! It smells like pear drops and it lingers on your skin for so long after using it, making you feel so clean and yummy! A pricey one, yes, but by how long this has lasted me, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another!
And last but not least, I recently purchased the Maybelline Color Tattoo! I originally wanted this in the shade 'Bad to the Bronze' after hearing it raved about constantly by Essie Button but I had no such luck finding it unfortunately! This looked like a suitable substitute though, and I have been using it constantly! It's a fundamental part of my everyday makeup as I use it on it's own on the lid and it leaves a slight shimmer which is so pretty! It is a creamy consistency that turns slightly powdery when applied, which I love! Will definitely be investing in some more of these colours if I can find a bigger Maybelline counter!

What are your November favourites (or more appropriately, December favourites?!) Leave me links to your blogs below and follow me on Bloglovin' if you want to keep up with more of my posts! I'll be launching a little giveaway including some of these favourites when I hit 200 :)

Winter Warmers!

I know a lot of you lovely folk cannot stand cold winter weather, but I for one bloomin love it! I'm not one for summer, I prefer layering up and keeping cosy rather than lounging in the sun and wearing infinite numbers of bikinis!
I'm super thankful now that our mild autumnal weather has subsided and the cold winter months are setting in - what better excuse than to get some new winter warmers?!

The UK highstreet is at it's best this time of year (in my opinion anyway!), and everywhere is awash with chunky knits and faux furs galore! Here are my picks from the highstreet that I am LOVING for keeping you warm and toasty this time of year!

White & Black faux fur scarf - £14.99, H&M
Polar bear cosy booties - £18, Boux Avenue
Burnt orange pom pom knitted mittens - £6.99, H&M
Floral super soft dressing gown - £24, Next
Red cable knit hot water bottle - £8, Matalan
Giant chunky knit grey tassel scarf - £32, Topshop

December is heeeeeere!

If you're a Christmas nutjob like me then you'll know how exciting it is when the first of December finally comes and the countdown to the big day can begin! (I know I'm a day late, but my timekeeping is rubbish!)

Christmas is my favourite time of year, hands down, I literally cannot fault it - I'm even looking forward to the festive shifts at work this year, even though it means I'm working Christmas Day! - and I'm looking forward to spending the next few weeks drinking copious amounts of festive coffees and hot chocolates, going Christmas shopping, and most importantly getting those Christmas decorations up!

My delightful other half handed to me the other morning a lovely little package from Selfridges, and to my surprise, it was Ciaté London advent calendar! The very one I mentioned in my Advent Calendar blog post here! I know that he reads my blog posts sometimes but I didn't think for one moment that he'd be so thoughtful, and I could not wait to open it on December 1st!

Here is what was behind door number one...Headliner, a beautiful turquoise shade that I took no haste in adoring my nails with!
I think I'll probably change my nail polish everyday after opening this little beauty, and try them all out for size! I'm super excited for the festive shades and sparkly polishes that I know are hiding inside!

What are you most looking forward to about Christmas? Do you have any cute little traditions? Let me know in the comments below, link your blogs and follow me on Bloglovin if you want to keep up with my posts! I'll be launching a little giveaway when I reach 200 followers (not far off, eeeee!)
