Blogging vs. Life

Hello blogging world, it's been a while.

I haven't actually sat down at my laptop and just written a post in well over a month now and I have mixed feelings about it.

I absolutely love my little space on the internet and I'm so thankful for all of the opportunities it has granted me and it's something that I really enjoy but it is HARD WORK.
I think anyone who reads my blog or looks at my Instagram who isn't a blogger won't realise how much work actually goes into getting that perfect flatlay and how keeping a blog going with 4 posts a week as well as replying to emails and editing photos is practically a full job in itself.
So when you actually have a full time job aside from blogging that has suddenly become so bloody overwhelming and intense, everything just gets TOO MUCH.

When normally I'd rush home from a 9 hour shift at work and happily be at my laptop working away on my blog for a few hours after that, recently I've been coming home, collapsing on the sofa and not doing much else. I've well and truly been stuck in a rut with so much going on in my work life, and I've been neglecting my blog and everything that comes with it.

But I think that's okay though.

Sometimes we need a bit of a break and refresh, and the world of social media and blogging is so all-consuming sometimes that it's hard to enjoy it wholeheartedly. I sometimes forget that my blog is just a hobby and recently I've been making it feel like a chore to write my posts - and no one wants that.

I really want to get back to enjoying my content again and being more creative with it instead of writing any old thing just to fill a space. I'm completely in awe of those gals that have their shit together 24/7 (or so it seems from the outside) and that manage to post regularly on their blog, Twitter and Instagram but for me, I've not found the balance yet but that's okay. I've unfortunately spent the last week off sick from work so I've had a lot of time with my own thoughts and to think about where I want to take my blog next and for the first time in a LONG time, I'm excited to start feeling better so I can put some work into my little baby and get back to doing what I love but with no pressure or expectations this time.

Wish me luck!

Have you felt similar to me at any point? If so, I'd love to know how you got your mojo back! Or if you're one of those absolute babes who has the balance of work and blog just right, I'd love to know your secrets!

Happy Sunday gals,

The February Love List

It's been a good while since I've done any sort of favourites post, and while I'm pretty loyal to the products I use, I've accumulated a load of new faves in the last few months that I want to share with you all!

Life: Hello March

HOW IS IT MARCH?

I feel like I was taking my Christmas tree down only yesterday yet here we are on the first day of March and it's so lovely and sunny outside that I feel like spring is actually here!

February was a mix of success and failure for me. I was flying with my blog posts for the best part of the month and the photography I was putting out there is probably some of my best work and I'm SO happy with it all. Then as usual life got in the way and my routine was buggered, and I barely had any time to string together a sentence nevermind a whole blog post!

It wasn't all bad though - I got a promotion in the middle of the month and then a week later I got another little one! I've been spending the last week or so working hard at my new job role and learning so many new things, and although my little blog has been put on the back burner, it's all been for a good cause!

As I do with monthly posts, I put together my goals for the month ahead. Last month, I vowed to keep up with my fitness, improve my photography, cut down on allllllll the sugar and stop spending money and start saving it.

Okay, so I kept up with my fitness kind of. I was doing fab at the gym and had really gotten into the swing of it when my new job came around and I barely had any time to myself. I've noticed some changes in my body though and definition is starting to form so I'm looking forward to getting back into it all next week and seeing where I can go with it!
I've already mentioned that my blog photography has improved massively lately and I'm excited to create more content and see where I can go with it! I'm having a bit of a photography sesh this afternoon so watch this space!

The two I didn't do so well with though were saving the dolla and cutting down on sugar. I've had a month of travelling, eating out and driving lessons and my bank balance hates me. Hopefully with my lil pay rise starting soon I can save a bit more and spend a little less. I'm also still on the sugar but I'm determined to cut down again this month. My last blog post featured all of my healthy sweet treats and I've got a massive snack box full of them for when times get hard but I still can't kick my Ben & Jerry's addiction.

And for this month?

Pass my driving test / I feel like I've been learning to drive FOREVER and I'm determined that this WILL be the month that I finally pass! It's something I've been carrying around on my shoulders for ages and I can't wait until I can finally hold my pink license in my hand and not worry about it anymore!

Drink less coffee / I'm actually addicted to the stuff but I really want to cut down this month and start drinking a heck of a lot more water and switch to green tea instead. I know I can't get rid of the joe completely but I want to try and cut down as much as I can and get my energy levels up.

Organise my life / Okay so this is a biggy and it won't happen overnight but I want to get my shit together! I'm sick of rushing around in a morning, always forgetting things and not getting things done out of being lazy and I want to put a stop to it and make the most of my time!

As always, I'll update you next month with my progress and hopefully March will be a successful one! What are your goals for the month?

Food: Healthy Snacks For The Sugar Fiend

I AM ADDICTED TO SUGAR.

There's no two ways about it. I'm a dessert girl all the way and I can never say no to a tub of Ben & Jerry's or that slice of cheesecake for pudding with a caramel latte on the side. It wasn't much of a problem a couple of years ago when I could eat anything I want and stay a size 6 but as I've gotten older and my body has fully grown, allllll that sugar and sweet stuff is taking it's toll and the scales tell me so.

The Sunday Post: Things That Made Me Happy This Week #38

What made me happy this week...

- I started the week with a cute little gym/brunch date with my friend Lucy and we had coffee and breakfast and it was divine. I always preferred going to the gym on my own but we're both on a mission to get super fit so we thought we'd do it together and it's going fab so far (mainly due to the fact that Lu makes me do press ups and is basically just a MASSIVE ball buster). Bring on the abs!

- Me and the other half have made lots of plans over the last couple of weeks and this week we've planned a couple of little holidays which have me feeling extremely giddy! One is going to be a lil wedding anniversary trip, and the other is going to be a big family Christmas trip (spoiler...there will be snow) and I am so excited and I'm not one to wish my life away but I want it all to hurry up! Watch this space though and I'll keep you posted on our plans...

- My delightful husband (still can't get used to that) got into University! It's only early days yet and we still don't know what's in store for us come September but I'm so bloody proud nonetheless.

- If all that wasn't enough, I also got a little promotion at work and I'm so excited to start! It also means investing in a cute work wardrobe...YAAAAAASSS.
